How to generate random numbers in a range
- Enter whole numbers in Minimum and Maximum. Both bounds can appear in the result.
- Set Quantity from 1 to 10. Turn on No repeats for different numbers within the same set, then click Generate. A quick-range button sets the bounds and generates a draw using your current settings.
- Use Copy to copy the latest numbers. Recent draws shows earlier results from this page session.
Example: pick a number from 1 to 100
Set Minimum to 1, Maximum to 100 and Quantity to 1. The result can be any whole number from 1 through 100, including both endpoints. Set Quantity to 5 to generate five numbers at once. With No repeats on, all five will be different. With it off, a number can appear more than once.
Number ranges, name draws and random order
Use this tool when every integer in a range is eligible, such as a numbered classroom question or game position. For a specific list of allowed numbers or names, use the random choice picker. To arrange all entries into an order, use the list randomizer.
For a visual comparison of repeat rules, read why random numbers repeat and how unique sets work.
For larger unique sets in a spreadsheet, use the Excel and Google Sheets no-duplicates formulas.
Random number generator questions
Are the minimum and maximum included?
Yes. A whole-number range from 1 to 10 includes all ten integers, and a range from 0 to 9 includes zero. If you enter the bounds in reverse order, the generator swaps them before drawing.
Can I generate numbers without repeats?
Yes. Turn on No repeats to generate unique numbers within one set. For example, use Minimum 1, Maximum 10 and Quantity 10 to get all ten numbers in random order. Your quantity cannot exceed the number of integers in the range. Each new set starts fresh, so numbers can appear again in later sets. To draw one item at a time without reusing it across clicks, use the choice picker with Pick each item once before repeating.
Can I pick negative numbers or decimals?
Negative whole numbers and zero are supported. For example, use -50 and 50 for integers on both sides of zero. The output is whole numbers, so use integer bounds rather than decimal values.
Why can consecutive results be the same?
With No repeats off, each number is an independent draw, so an earlier number remains eligible. Turn No repeats on to prevent duplicates within a set. Separate sets can still share numbers because each click of Generate starts a new set.
Are the results saved or uploaded?
The numbers and recent-draw history are held on the current page. Generation runs in your browser without an account. Copy any results you want to keep before leaving the page.
