Privacy & Data Policy
This page explains what data Spacebar Count uses, when data stays local in your browser, and what changes when you use account, billing, rooms, and official tournaments.
Quick summary
- Most free tools run in your browser and do not require an account.
- Account features (Pro dashboard, cloud run history, room identity, billing controls) require sign-in.
- Multiplayer rooms and official tournaments store public leaderboard data (for example nickname, score, rank, and submission time).
- Payments are processed by Paddle. We do not store full card details on Spacebar Count servers.
- We currently do not run third-party display ads on Spacebar Count pages.
Data that stays local in your browser
Free spacebar tools, randomizers, and keyboard testing logic run client-side. We store only small preference values in browser storage, such as theme and some tool settings.
- Theme: light/dark preference (for example
sb-theme). - Tool preferences: selected UI options in some tools.
- Session results: some free-mode result tables are session/local browser state, not account cloud history.
Account, profile, and cloud data
When you sign in with magic link, we create and maintain account records needed for Pro and multiplayer features.
- Authentication: email sign-in session data is managed by our auth provider.
- Profile: email, optional default room nickname, and Pro badge visibility preference.
- Cloud runs: selected run summaries/metrics for dashboard history and mode stats.
- Multiplayer data: room memberships, attempts used, room leaderboard entries, and submission history.
- Official tournaments: joins, attempts, leaderboard entries, placements, and medal results.
Public multiplayer information
Rooms and official tournaments are competitive features, so some data is visible to other players inside those views.
- Nickname and score/placement are shown in leaderboards.
- Submission and ranking timestamps can be shown for event integrity.
- If Pro badge display is enabled and conditions match, a Pro badge may be shown next to your nickname.
Billing and payments
Billing is handled through Paddle. Spacebar Count stores subscription status fields needed to unlock features and show billing state in Dashboard.
- Stored on our side: subscription id, plan state, status, renewal/period end timestamps, cancel/switch state, and webhook sync metadata.
- Not stored on our side: full card number or full card verification details.
- Billing controls: plan switch, cancellation, and resume are available in Dashboard Billing; invoice/payment method updates are in billing portal.
Hosting logs and analytics
Our hosting stack may process standard technical request data (for example IP address, browser/device metadata, request path, referrer, and timestamps) for delivery, security, abuse prevention, and service analytics.
We use this data to keep the service stable and understand aggregate usage. We do not run third-party display ad scripts on site pages at this time.
Cookies and storage technologies
Spacebar Count uses local storage and auth/session technologies required for signed-in features.
- Browser storage for UX preferences and certain tool state.
- Auth/session storage so signed-in pages (Dashboard, billing actions, multiplayer identity) work correctly.
You can clear site data from your browser settings at any time.
Retention and deletion
Data is retained for service operation and account history unless removed earlier by user action or legal requirement.
- Local browser preferences stay until you clear browser storage.
- Cloud account data (runs, room/tournament records, billing state fields) stays while the account exists.
- You can request deletion by using account deletion in Dashboard or contacting support.
- When account deletion succeeds, related account records are removed/cascaded based on current schema rules.
Security
We use HTTPS and standard web security headers, and we rely on provider-level protections for infrastructure and billing integrations.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of personal data. Contact us if you want help with a request.
